Staged House

Here are some pictures that Ken took of our house, inside and out, after a lot of hard work and packing away into the garage many of our possessions, to "stage" the house. Our relator hired a professional photographer  to take pictures of the house which will go on the Internet next Thursday afternoon, when our house "turns on". After seeing the pictures that the photographer took, she called and suggested that we raise our asking price by $20,000.  Of course we said yes to that idea! She told me that we were among the top 1% of her clients who actually do what she suggests in the way of preparing a house to present itself well.  In many instances we went above what she asked.  For example, instead of just giving the cabinets a good cleaning and oil treatment, Ken actually refinished the wood edges of all the counter tops.  He sanded all of the old finish off, then gave them several coats of varnish, with sanding and wiping down between coats.  They look brand new.  He took off all of the outside light fixtures, took them apart, washed the glass and repainted the metal parts.  They, too, look brand new.  He repainted the trim on the house, removed the old satellite dishes and patched the roof where they had been, and dug up weeds and re-established the gravel parking area next to the garage. He crawled around in the attic, zip-tying the fan connections from the bathrooms, which had fallen down, to the outside. The builder had "duct taped" the fans to the outside connections. Plus many more things.  We had the furnace and heat pump cleaned and serviced , the septic tank pumped and the septic system inspected.  We are having the carpets cleaned on Friday morning. The whole house has also been inspected.  Some of the minor repairs Ken performed were from "suggestions" from the home inspector.

I won't show you our garage!  It's is full of stuff that was in the house.  I'm really grateful for that large space. Our realtor said that it was okay to stack things out there, as  long as people could get around things to see the garage.
