Well...my cat Jenny, who hasn't been out of the house in years, had quite an adventure this morning. We stuffed her (literally!) into her carrier and took a little trip over to something called the "Mutt Strutt" at a local park. Why you ask? Good question. One of the events was free MicroChips for pets. The cat owners got to move to the front of the line (nice). Then after filling out some paperwork, Jenny was whisked, carrier and all, into a screened zipped tent. The cat who had to be STUFFED into her carrier, nearly needed the Jaws-of-Life to remove her from said carrier. As she had the chip inserted, she made not a peep. The nearby tent, where dogs were being chipped had continual cries and whimpers from the dogs. Dogs were the "scardy cats" in this case. Then on my way home, I stopped at Subway for a foot-long sandwich to take back for our lunch. I took her into the store, sliding her carrier along on the floor as I progressed through the line. It is warm outside, and I've heard too many horror stories of pets being left in hot cars to leave her for even a few minutes. No one seemed to mind, however.
I need to take her to the vet and get her shots updated soon. I'm thinking that getting her into the carrier is no fun so I've decided to get her accustomed to the carrier by placing her food bowl in it while the door is open. If she wants to eat.....I hope my idea works.
We survived our little trip and now she's acting normal. I was afraid that she'd be mad at me, but she's fine. Here she is showing off her new blue tag that has the MicroChip information on it.

Oh she will get you...just wait until you least expect it. You will wake up in the middle of the night and she will be sitting on your chest staring into your eyes at close distance. That will be the last thing you ever remember seeing!
Ha ha Brian.
