A New Ride

In 1988 Ken and I bought new bicycles.  Mine was a performance bike and I rode it many miles over the years.
Notice the different sized tires.
We went to a bike shop the other day to see if we could get different handle bars, new tires and switch out the pedals.  Well, after talking to the owner of the shop, it was decided that if we were to attempt the changes, it would be a "Frankenstein".  So, I got me some new wheels!  My new bike has a comfy seat, pedals that aren't toe clip types and handle bars that I don't have to lean over so far to hold on to.  It is a heavier bike however and I can tell that I'm going to have to take it slowly to get into the shape I'll need to go any distance.

Tomorrow, being Labor Day, Ken is off  work and we're going to pack a lunch and take a ride on the bike trail near our house, which is called Centennial Trail. It was built on the location of an old railroad line and runs for miles.  The weather is going to be in the low 70s.  It should be beautiful.

This bike has 21 speeds, and I'm really good at the slow ones!
