Blackberry Jelly

Tonight I picked blackberries.  They are a real nuisance around my neck of the woods.  Some thorns can flatten mower tires they are so big.  But if you are willing to risk life and limb avoiding the thorns, a bounteous crop of berries awaits the adventuresome soul who dares to face the obstacles. I noticed a little patch of blackberries on my walk the other day.  Growing innocently by the road at the edge of someones property.  Hmmm.. pretty easy to get at, tons of berries.  My kind of picking.  Anyway, I rode my bike over to the home tonight to ask permission before picking.  The house had been for sale, and the sign was laying down at the edge of their driveway.  I went to the door but noticed that the living room, which I could see through the draperies was empty of furniture.  I peddled home, grabbed a gallon container and drove back.  I picked till almost sunset and barely made a dent in the abundant crop of berries.  I think I'll go over again with Ken and pick some more.  Ummm, I think that the next time I'm going to wear a long sleeve shirt and gloves.   I'm going to make some jelly on Saturday.
Here is the result of about 45 minutes or 1 hour of picking.
