Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day, I remember my dad Omar Loyde Olson, who fought in WWII. He was in his mid 30s when he joined the Army. He made 5 beach landings and fought in Italy and North Africa. I gave the US Flag that was given to me that had been draped across his coffin, to the American Legion in the small town he was born in. It flies, each Memorial Day in Prairie View Cemetery, in Gilman, Iowa.

I don't think I have ever seen his picture before. Wow 5 beach landings is scary. Glad he made it through all of those!
