A Breather . . . Before the Next Storm

As I write this, (2:30 PST), the snow has stopped.  We have about a foot of snow outside.  Ken tried to shovel earlier, but made absolutely no headway in one hour of back breaking, heavy snow, shoveling.  We both are going out in a little while to tackle it.  He will "man" our ancient, heavy coal shovel, which he will use like a plow, and I will  "woman" the lighter weight show shovel.  Our driveway is HUGE.  I'm sure it will take hours to clear it all. (Oh for the days when we had a normal sized driveway.)

I took a couple of videos earlier and some photos of the pretty landscape.  For all the pain of it and the disruption of daily life, it is pretty.  Ken stayed home today and will most likely stay home tomorrow as well.  Unfortunately, he has to use his vacation time when things like this occur.  Actually, down in Lynnwood, where he works, they have had only a small amount of snow fall.  We are in, what they call around here, the "convergence zone."  So when it rains or snows, we get more of it than some of the surrounding areas.

We get a break from the snow falling for a few hours and then the REALLY BIG system moves in at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow, for another pounding.  It's important that we get this batch plowed and shoveled before we get hit again.

I know that you all are smiling and saying, "Glad it's you and not us."  But, as I said, this has given me wonderful blog materials.
Enjoy the beauty from the warmth of your cozy home.
(Our power is probably going to go out, as I write this, the lights are flickering.  I'm grateful for a generator too!)

I especially like this shot.
