Not Out of the Woods Yet!

Moments after posting my previous blog this morning, the Internet and our phone and TV went out ... again.  The storm's aftermath continues to be a problem.

It ends up that Ken, after returning from getting gasoline, decided it was still too treacherous to venture into work.  So basically, he's had almost a weeks worth of vacation time.  If you can call shoveling a ton of snow a vacation!

Yesterday when we were without our stove, I made our lunch on the stove top out in the garage.  I thawed and heated some of my chicken noodle soup. What a blessing to have that stove, as our kitchen stove isn't hooked up to the generator.  Speaking of the stove in the garage, which we usually only use to make very large batches of spaghetti sauce, we need to call in a service man to adjust it for propane use.  Ken found a switch in the oven to turn to switch over, but the flames are still visible coming up the sides.  So, needless to say, we won't be using the oven any time soon.  We do want to get it adjusted though, so we can use it in the future when we have a power outage.

In case you're wondering, that domed tank to my left is our pressure tank for the well.

Another item that Ken is considering, is to add another box to the garage for more circuit breakers to run the whole house and not just part of the house.  We need lights in our laundry and half bath.  And we need more of the outlets available.

Now this is what I call candle power.

Ken wants to add another box, like the small one on the left.
